Auburn Dam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Auburn Dam was an engineering project intended to dam the American River in Northern California and provide flood protection and water to the Sacramento Valley, as well as a recreation site in the Sierra Nevada foothills. However, due to environmental concerns, money issues, and the relative seismic instability of the proposed dam site, the construction was canceled and the project is abandoned. Much of the preliminary work on the dam can still be seen today.
