Aubry Campbell Ingram

Aubrey Campbell Ingram (November 26, 1903 in Bluefields, Nicaragua), is a Nicaraguan who is considered the founder of the Asociación de Scouts de Nicaragua.

He married his wife, Ofelia Kain, in 1923[1]. They had six children together, Duncan, Lastenia, Leslie, Alba, Catherine, and Hazel. Duncan Campbell went on to become a famous baseball player. For several years Aubrey lived in Bonanza, where he built a carousel for underprivileged children[1]. He once hiked a Scout troop from Bonanza to El Coyotepe[1]. He died on June 24, 2000, and in accordance with his wishes his ashes were scattered in El Coyotepe.

In 1916, he read an article on the Boy Scouts of America and became interested in Scouting. Along with the help of Reverend Joseph Harrison he started the first Scout troop in Nicaragua, called Moravian Uno. In 1942, the Nicaraguan Scout groups formed the Federación Nacional de Boy Scouts de Nicaragua, which was recognized by the government in the same year. The federation became a member of the WOSM in 1946. In the 1950s, the federation changed its name to Asociación de Scouts de Nicaragua.
