Famelix is a Linux-based operating system that has the main aim to create a user interface similar to the Microsoft Windows operating system while releasing their software using the open source GNU General Public License. It is currently under development by a team of volunteers and co-ordinated by David Emmerich Jourdain [1] with version 2.1 (having a user interface similar to Windows Vista) currently in its release candidate stage [6].

The operating system includes features such as automatic mounting of floppy disks, CDs and Flashdrives, automatic local and remote printer recognition, WINE intergration, a Live CD version, USB digital camera support, Microsoft Office 2003 support and a 3D environment through Compiz Fusion [2].
