Errors re "Atuk". Sam Kinison's involvement was not limited to screentests. United Artists actually signed him to play Atuk in the late 80's, and within a year, greenlit the picture. On the first day of photography, however, Sam wouldn't come out of his trailer, claiming he didn't like the script. United Artists, forced to shut down production, immediately sued him, arguing he'd had several months to comment on the finished script, and breeched his contract by refusing to perform after production had already begun. Regarding the "curse", though Sam was blackballed for a time in Hollywood and eventually died, and though the director didn't work for awhile, the producers made other successful films, other members of the cast, e.g., Christopher Walken, continue famously with their careers, and the writer (myself) also continued working.
