[edit] Politically

I am a moderate, and discouraged by both ends of the political spectrum.

Like most Americans, I think George Bush is an idiot, and hold great shame that the world judges me, and other Americans by his actions.

[edit] Religious

I have developed my own personal life philosophy over the years, and came to the understanding that this philosophy is essentially a variation of Buddhist thought. Particularly Zen Buddhism, and is also Existentialist in nature.

Key elements of my personal philosophy are:

  • Respect for others, and their right to their own religious beliefs. We all seek enlightenment, and all paths are equally valid in the pursuit of that enlightenment.
  • Live a life of humility, service.
  • Show Kindness and Compassion for all living things.
  • Reserve time for individual meditation, or contemplative thought.
  • Always being honest and true. All things are interconnected, and lying to anyone is just a round about way of trying to fool ones-self, and results in slowing your own path to enlightenment, and may deflect others as well from theirs.
  • Never taking anything that is not yours, or not given freely.

Picture of the day
United States Capitol dome, 1846

A daguerreotype of the United States Capitol in 1846, with the original green copper dome as designed by Charles Bulfinch. Over time, extensions to both the north and south wings, made to accommodate the addition of new states to the Union, made the dome aesthetically displeasing, and as a result, it was replaced by a white cast iron dome which was completed in 1866.
