From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ATOW1996 is a small island that is documented as the northernmost land on earth. It is located several miles north of Cape Morris Jesup in northeastern Greenland at 83°40′34.8″N, 30°38′38.6″W. It is only about 10 meters long and one meter high. ATOW1996 is named after the American Top of the World expedition in 1996.

An island even further north was noted in a flyover by the Return to the Top of the World Expedition (RTOW2001), at 83°41′06″N, 30°45′36″W, but more research, including a ground visit is necessary to confirm this.

Another Island, called 83-42 was found at 83°42′05.2″N, 30°38′49.4″W. It is also a tiny Island (about 35 x 15 meters), only 4 meters high. It has not yet been confirmed whether this islet is permanent.
