Talk:Atlantic Yards public opinion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is a disproportionate amount of space given to opposition to the project, going as far as listing some fairly unimportant opinions from bloggers. An effort should be made to balance the pro and con points of view, or else rename the article "Atlantic Yards public opposition" and do away with the pro viewpoint altogether. - I second this. The article is a joke. Many of these organizations are little more than neighborhood block associations of rich townhouse owners. Who cares what they think? The Atlantic Yards project is supported by every 20something living in a shared apartment situation. Unfortunately, they just don't receive any attention as they don't own any property. I removed the listing of the "members" of Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn. It is ridiculous to include them. The Carroll Street Block Associate literally has like 20 members for instance, all of whom live in $3,000,000 townhouses. Obviously, such people are not going to see the need for high-density housing.
It is particularly striking that an article labeled "Atlantic Yards Public Opinion" fails to cite a public opinion poll we conducted for Crain's New York Business, which showed that 60% of New Yorkers (and a similar proportion of Brooklyn residents) support the development.
