The Atlantic Array is an offshore wind farm planned for the coast of North Devon, England. With its 1.5 gigawatt capacity, it is one of the world's largest proposed offshore wind farms. [1]
The completed wind farm could consist of 350 wind turbines, which the proposers say is enough to power more than 1,000,000 homes. The wind farm has been proposed by Farm Energy2 and, if built, could cost £3bn. [2]
As of mid 2007, the Atlantic Array proposal exists outside the UK's strategic approach to offshore wind farm development. Farm Energy2 have also not been granted a lease or license to develop the site by the Crown Estate (owners of the UK seabed). [3]
