Atlanta Historical Bulletin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Atlanta Historical Bulletin is a publication of the Atlanta Historical Society. It began in 1927 with one issue per year until 1937 when they began to run three or sometimes four issues per year. They made it through WWII pretty consistently with an issue a year but began to run out of steam by the mid 1950s. There were no issues between 1957 and 1965 nearly a decade represented by Vol. X. Things went pretty smoothly from then until the 1990s, except for skipping the entire year of 1974. There were occasional combined issues (1-2 or 3-4) and Volume XLV is particularly spotty signalling a major slowdown. The issue dated Spring 1978 changed the name to The Atlanta Historical Journal and the issue dated Spring 1987 changed the name to Atlanta History with a similar design to the previous volumes, but the issue marked Fall 1993 announced the opening of the new museum at the history center and presented a completely new logo, design and layout for the magazine which was to continue into 2006. The last issue in the current run is Vol. 48 No. 1 dated Spring 2006 but so far it's not even close to as long as the longest hiatus. So, surely it will return. Franklin Garrett's death in March of 2000 may have had something to do with the current slowdown.

Beginning with the resumption of The Bulletin in 1965 with issue No.39, a chapter or two from Franklin Garrett's history was included in each issue up to the last issue of 1973 by which time they had reprinted chronologically to 1872 – almost the entirety of Volume I.
