[edit] Battle Account

I have put in a couple of footnotes about the reference to King Athelstan as the dates in the account of the battle don't match with recorded Anglo-Saxon history. However, after a bit more digging around I found some further commentary [1] which suggests that the battle never happened and that the whole story is a later attempt to misrepresent events at the Battle of Brunanburh. In which case, it would be interesting to know the origin of the name Athelstaneford. Greenshed 00:05, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
