Athur is a panchayat town in Kanniyakumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Athur had a population of 11,742. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Athur has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 52% of the males and 48% of females literate. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
