Birthplace | Athos |

First appearance | "The Gift" |
Charin was an Athosian elder, and old friend of Teyla Emmagan.
When Teyla Emmagan was a child, Charin would paint her beautiful pictures while singing the songs of the Ancients. She is known for her tuttleroot soup, and is considered somewhat of a grandmother by Teyla. When her people were forced to evacuate Athos, she moved to Lantea with her fellow Athosians. [1]
She was one of the few Athosians who were aware of the "taken". She told Teyla that, in the past, some of the ones taken by the Wraith came back. Although the returnees were initially welcomed back, they eventually began to hear voices or became violent and were killed or ostracized by their people. One of these returneed fled to Athos, and passed on his children "the gift", the ability to sense the Wraith.
One of such people was Teyla's father, but Charin has promised him a long time ago that she would not explain this to her. [2] Although Charin broke her promise by informing Teyla of this, the telepathic link between her and the Wraith eventually proved critical during the battle that would later become known as the Second Siege of Atlantis. [3]
When Charin's heart began to fail, Dr. Beckett was asked by Teyla to examine her. Although he concluded that Charin would be able to extend her life for several years with a pacemaker, she refused the treatment. Charin requested that Teyla perform the Ring Ceremony to celebrate her passing. Her final words to Teyla were "The Journey Begins". [4]
[edit] Teyla Emmagan
Leader of the Athosians and part of Col. Sheppard's team.

Halling | |
Race | Human: Athosian |
Gender | Male |
Birthplace | Athos |
Relatives | Jinto (Son) |
Portrayer | Christopher Heyerdahl |
First appearance | "Rising" |
Halling was an Athosian male, who had considerable influence among his people after Teyla Emmagan chose to live with the Atlantis Expedition.
He was the first adult Athosian encountered by the Atlantis Expedition when a team visited Athos in search for Zero Point Modules. When the team, led by Colonel Sumner, came in contact with his son, he protected the boy from the strangers. After concluding that they posed no threat to his people, he led them to the Athosian camp and Teyla Emmagan.
When the Wraith attacked Athos, he was one of several Athosian villagers captured. He and his fellow captives were later rescued by Major Sheppard. [1] Afterwards, he moved to Atlantis with the other survivors and acted as guide for Sergeant Stackhouse's team for a few missions. [5]
Halling was a deeply spiritual man, and firmly believed in the traditions of his people. When an energy-consuming creature was set loose in the city of Atlantis, he initially believed the mysterious malfunctions to be caused by the ghosts of the Ancestors, and prayed for their forgiveness. [6] When Teyla Emmagan was trapped inside the Stargate in the back of a damaged Puddle Jumper, he asked Dr. Weir to allow Teyla to prepare for her death, according to his people's traditions. [7]
When the Atlantis Expedition suspected an Athosian to be relaying information to the Wraith, Halling and the rest of his people were restricted to their quarters. As he felt no longer welcome, he requested to allow his people to move to the recently discovered mainland. There, he intended to build a new life for himself. [5]
Halling appears once more in the The Kindred as one of the captured Athosians in Michael's warehouse. With the help of the team, he and the rest of the Athosians are able to escape.
[edit] Jinto

Race | Human: Athosian |
Gender | Male |
Birthplace | Athos |
Relatives | Halling (Father) |
Portrayer | Reece Thompson |
First appearance | "Rising" |
Jinto was an Athosian boy, son of Halling, and best friend to Wex.
When the Atlantis Expedition travelled to Athos in search for more Zero Point Modules, Jinto came in contact with the team of human explorers. As he and Wex were playing in the forest, he was "attacked" by Wex from behind, as he was playing the Wraith part. Jinto was the first Athosian encountered by the Expedition. Fearing the strangers, Jinto was protected from the team by his father, Halling.
After his homeworld was attacked by the Wraith, Jinto and the rest of his people moved to the great city of Atlantis, where the Tau'ri expedition had been forced to take up residence. He was aware of several Stargate addresses, and provided Elizabeth Weir with several of them. [1]
During one of the first nights spent in the city, Jinto and Wex sneaked out of their quarters to play. Jinto was to be Major John Sheppard, and forced his friend to again play the Wraith. While they were playing, Jinto hid inside an Ancient transport booth and was transported to another part of the city.
Jinto started tinckering with the Ancient equipment inside the lab he had been transported to, and accidentally released an energy-consuming non-corporeal creature from an Ancient containment device. When he accidentally accessed the city's internal communication system, he was able to contact his father. When John Sheppard activated the same transport booth Jinto had activated, the boy was later brought back to his father.
The creature released by Jinto wounded several people before it was eventually lured through the Stargate to another planet. [6]
