The school is known for its outstanding vocational education standards, winning numerous awards around the state of Queensland. Many students are receiving traineeships and apprenticeships and the percentage of students receiving these eclipses the state standards.
The school is linked to a TAFE branch, close to the front entrance. TAFE and Atherton High School are linked in many vocational education and training programs. [1]
[edit] Sport
The school has 4 sports teams, competing for 3 sports titles, Athletics, Cross-Country running, and Swimming. They are Eacham (red), Euramo (blue), Quincan (yellow) and Barrine (green.) These teams are named using lakes around the Tableland area. Eacham has been crowned champion house the past 3 years.
At this year's Tablelands Athletics events, Atherton State High School won by over 60 points, against schools such as Mareeba State High School, and Mount Saint Bernard's High School. This was a record margin for the event. Also, the school captured the District swimming, and cross-country titles, taking a clean sweep of sports events around the Tableland schools area. [2]
