Troy Athens High School, located in Troy, Michigan, at the corners of Wattles Road and John R Road, is attended by nearly 2,000 students, serving grades 9-12. Athens is one of three high schools in the Troy School District, accompanied by Troy High School and Niles Community High School. Athens High School opened in 1973.

"Athens High School believes that all students can make positive contributions to society. To ensure this, the staff is committed to effective education in an environment where the full intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of each student is the goal. In partnership with the community, we will encourage cooperation, self-esteem, and respect for a diverse population."[1]

Athens is a National and Michigan Exemplary School and has been named one of the best high schools (ranked 888th in the most recent listing) in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.[2]
The National Fed Challenge team at Athens High School has seen a good deal of success. Coached by Economics teacher John Devine, the team has placed 1st in the Michigan competition, and competed in the Districts Competition in Chicago for the last two years. Winning team members in 2008 were Maria Mutter, Anupama Prasad, Ali Emamdjomeh, Jon Hordos, and Nilesh Dagli.

[edit] Marching Band
The Troy Athens High School marching band competes in the Michigan Competing Band Association marching band competition circuit. The band, which is currently under the direction of Mr. Daniel Blessing, is an award-winning group that consistently makes state finals. The band takes a trip every year, either to Florida or Indianapolis. When the band travels to Indianapolis they compete in the BOA Grand National Championships.
The marching band performs a different competition show annually, each performance having a unique theme.

Athens High School students can participate in a many school sponsored clubs, including Asian, Chess, Forensics, French, German, Karate, Medical, Physics, Ping Pong, Project LEAD, SADD, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Statistics, and Video, among others.
