My Political Stance
Illegal Immigration Abortion Religion in Schools Welfare Healthcare War in Iraq Death Penalty Gun Control
I understand many people are angered about this issue, but we have to step back and look at the facts. Illegal Immigrants are here, and they don't want to leave. So we should take law enforcement officers away from their current jobs to hunt down illegal immigrants and then pay to place them in jail until we can pay to send them back and hope that they don't come back illegally? So say we do get them out, do we build a wall? Let me put it this way; if the United States Coast Guard can't stop poor Cubans, in their make-shift rafts, from reaching America, how is a wall going to stop illegals from the south? Instead of all this, lets figure out another solution. Lets make an easier path to citizenship. Lets make the benefits worth the price these people must pay to become citizens, so they won't have to choose between food and fees payed to a government that doesn't even accept them yet. Lets be sure that these citizens make enough money to support their families, so their children don't commit crimes and sell drugs in order to provide. While I am personally Pro-Life, I understand the flawed nature in the overturning of Roe v Wade If it were to be overturned, abortions would not become legal, the rule of law would be returned to the states. I would love to live in a world where most states would ban abortion except in the cases of rape, incepts and harm to the mothers life, but the truth is that may not happen everywhere. What happens if a state bans abortions in all conditions? At that point, the federal government will have no say. But supporting Roe v. Wade, one is not always saying that they support abortion rights for all, but that they understand the terrible reality of a world where abortion is once again illegal. A world where women are performing abortions on themselves or doctors are performing abortions in alley ways; this is not a world in which I would like to live. One can convince another to not have an abortion, whether it is legal or not, but if one can't be convinced, why put her in a position where should could harm her own life. Abortion can be ended without being illegal. The fact of the matter is that religion will be in schools whether a court says so or not. The issue here is whether is should be something that is participated in or condoned by members of the faculty and staff. The answer is clear; this country was founded on the idea of religious freedom, so how does school lead religion fit into this mold? The Bible tells us to go to our room and pray where only our Father in Heaven can hear us; can that not be done in a classroom as well? The corruption of a few does not distort the fact that Welfare is saving millions of Americans citizens from death. We are only as strong as our weakest citizen, and without this government program, who would be sure that every citizen is being taken care of? Universal Healthcare is one of the scariest issues we are facing today. The next president of the United States must make this a priority of their campaign. The fact that 75 million Americans do not have health care is a tragedy. We are only as strong as our weakest citizen. Enough is enough. For 5 years, American citizens have been putting their life on line to win a war when no one can seem to explain what "win" means and how long that will take. Does that sound like an intelligent plan? If someone told you their strategy was to accomplish some goal their can't quantify in an undeterminable amount of time, would you be keen to help them? Even our allies in the Middle East are showing that relations would improve if we began withdrawing from Iraq. The United Nations has offered their support while we withdraw and we have said no. That offer won't stand forever. We can't let our decisions for our troops be contingent on the possibility of what some people may do in the future. It's time to bring our troops home. Life comes from God, so who are we to say when it's over? The integrity of the Constitution must be upheld, which means hammering out a comprimise on gun control. The gun lobby can't argue for loosely regulated laws and the anti-gun groups can't lobby for the complete banning of guns. There is a compromise, and it must be reached.
Gay Rights Global Warming Cuba Stem Cell Research Flag Burning Euthanasia Foreign Policy Media Bias
Homosexuals are citizens as well. The beliefs of a few, based on a book some don't believe in, can't shape the views of an entire nation. If one can prove that gay marriage and civil unions and hate-crims legislation is harmful to the American people beyond faith based reasons, then it should not be adopted in this free nation. Global warming is a serious issue facing our nation. I don't claim to know how accurate the statistics are, but what I can't deny is the effect we are having on the world. It's time for the United States to take a stand, its time to get tough with the auto industry and sign the Kyoto Protocol. What example do we set by punishing the citizens of Cuba for the actions of a horrible dictator? This is only ammo for people like Hugo Chavez who wish to bring us down for our supposed arrogance. It's time to show the world that we still care. While it concerns me to be creating life to destroy it, I understand the benefits of it. Extra lines, that would eventually be thrown out, should definitely be used to create stem cells. The worst part is that the flag they burn represent the people who have died so they can do that. If a person designates in a Will that they would like to refuse Life-Support, than that is there choice. No one may choose for them. No matter what the circumstance. It is time for a new direction in foreign policy. Not just in Iraq, but we need a change in course in how we deal with foreign nations. Its time to sit down with our enemies; not to have tea, but to let them know what they need to be doing. Using the United Nations, Economic Sanctions and reasoning to deal with the people that President Bush and others would seek to crush militarily. We need to restore ourselves as a nation who uses their might to stand up for the nation who needs us, not to crush the one that we see as a threat. While this continues to be a problem, I do believe it is up too the US Citizen to choose to educate themselves on this bias, as opposed to government legislated television.
