[edit] Helpme

Hi, I am still pretty new to the wikipedia. Just get some problem when trying to upload new images today. I have to use proxy due to my location. Astrowikizhang 09:59, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Only logged in users can upload images. I'm not sure what problem the proxy would cause, unless the proxy was blocked. Can you describe any error messages you are getting.--Commander Keane 10:07, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm sure I have logged in. No error msg is shown. Just sending request to wikipedia for very long time after I click 'upload' button. Astrowikizhang 10:36, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Maybe it's something to do with the file. What is the file type (eg .jpg or .gif etc), how big is the file, what is the exact file name?--Commander Keane 10:44, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
It is a common JPG of 126K named Stsobt.jpg. Just renamed it to Stsobtvcl.jpg and uploaded OK. And I cannot visit Wikipedia for 24 hours until minutes ago. So maybe the Greate Fire Wall (GFW) decided to put it offline for some time. Thanks for your help.--Astrowikizhang 06:50, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

The Great Fire Wall seems totally blocks the Tor access to wikipedia this month, and I have to visit the site via: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/ The problem is that I cannot view image thumbnail for those images I uploaded via secure access, e.g. Image:Sts_et_barge.jpg. If thumbnail is used, it will appear as

. All images uploaded ealier works fine. I'd like to know what could be the cause and how to solve this problem. Thanks. Astrowikizhang 08:49, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey Astrowikizhang, the images are displaying okay for me. (From outside China). This means that the image has been uploaded properly; could you try refreshing your browser cache? (Press Ctrl-F5 in Internet Explorer, or Ctrl-Shift-R in Firefox). Remember to do this on the page on which your images appear. If this doesn't work, please feel free to contact us again. Cheers, Tangotango 08:56, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. The image is displayed OK now. I think refreshing the page is the solution. Astrowikizhang 09:04, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Stssstack.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Stssstack.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:47, 20 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 11:47, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with J10static.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading J10static.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. John Smith's 18:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
