[edit] FA

This article has now been granted FA status, as part of this i have now "Archived" all the last disscusions as it was clogging this page up! (Everlast1910 16:45, 24 July 2007 (UTC))

Now that Featured article status has been achieved, I shall add a spoken version at some point in the next few weeks. Hassocks5489 11:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Done - see link above. Hassocks5489 21:29, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current squad

Can editors please not ignore the hidden text. it is there for a reason - to stop unreferenced edits. I am referring to "If changing REO-COKER OR HAREWOOD squad numbers please REFERENCE' it (Sky Sports, AVFC, BBC or other reputable sources)". Several editors are amending the squad numbers without referencing it. I understand that the speculation will be rife until August 11 and then August 31 but only edit this page if you have HARD FACTS. May i also remind editors of the other hidden text " When amending the current squad PLEASE REMEMBER to realign the "MID SQUAD" to avoid an uneven look. " Thankyou. [edit] Other pages requiring Villa info

Would some Villa fan who remembers the 1975 League Cup Final better than me (I was only 11 at the time!) like to augment the Match Review section. EddieCam 19:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Good call - and the other Aston Villa finals need documenting too, 1977 in particular needs an entry, the first team to win the trophy 3 times. MegdalePlace 05:38, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Zat Knight

it clearly states that zat knight is on loan from fulham, look just after his name and on the squad list on right hand side. follow the link... http://www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/Profiles/0,,10265~11316,00.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjjames (talkcontribs) 23:03, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

AVFC sometimes you have to wait for it to be updated also the site is going through a revamp and we will be getting a new site soon check these links:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/6966524.stm http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0,19754,11677_155047,00.html Everlast1910 07:29, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

ok but surely AVFC site is more of a source than BBC and Sky Sports, i'm not saying that he is on loan because i believe it to be a permanent deal but this really is hard evidence, that's what this site relies on and well here it is, the best source for AVFC is surely their own site! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjjames (talkcontribs) 10:34, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
What the squad profile actually says is that he was loaned to Peterborough United F.C., not that he is on loan to Villa. (Note the placing of the commas, admittedly it is a poor layout). The best source for info is not neccessarily AVFC. We also need to have third party sources instead of just relying on what AVFC say. Yet i understand in this case, in terms of statistical data Villa would be the best place to start. Woodym555 11:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Club crest

Whilst it is informative to have information on the new crest, it is only of particular interest at the moment because it is current. In the fullness of time, the current design will be no more noteworthy than any of the others. What would be good in my view would be a history of the crest in its various forms over the years. This would require the use of images, but I believe would be more relvant overall. MegdalePlace 05:44, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

If you look at any other FA football article there is information on "colours and crest" or maybe just "crest" and "colours". While I understand your point the new crest in 10+ years time will still be relevant as it was one of the first acts Randy did at the club. But that is my opinion. Everlast1910 09:08, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hajime Hosogai

Why is this person on villa's players list i've never heard of him and definatly no signing of him is this vandalism or has he been signed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonoridge (talkcontribs) 10:30, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

That was vandalism and has been reverted now. Thanks. Woody (talk) 11:48, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Famous supporters

I have removed the re-addition of the famous supporters section because of concerns raised in the last peer review. It states Get rid of the "Famous supporters" section. A celebrity's support for Villa has no effect upon the club, if a person's support for Villa is truly notable it should be included in their article, not Villa's. This view has been backed up by consensus on the WP:FOOTY project where it was thought that this information should be included in the articles of the persons concerned, and not the main Aston Villa one. Thankyou for your contribution though. Woody (talk) 14:37, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

True Woody if you can find the old Diff I had it at the bottom with flag icons and all correctly ref'd and we removed it! :) Everlast1910 16:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I copied over the bulk of that text above from the one in the archive! ;) Lazy I know. Previous version is here Woody (talk) 16:10, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Its come on a long way! Everlast1910 17:36, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revert and Civility issues

Will the anonymous IP address who is constantly reverting please stop and discuss your issues. The famous supporters issues is addressed in the section above me. Why do you object to the loan section and the foreign featured article link at the bottom. ({{Link FA|ro}}). Please DISCUSS your issues here in a calm and civil manner. Thankyou. Woody (talk) 00:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notable Managers

I've removed Joseph Venglos from the table of managers, as the table gives only those who won a trophy with Villa. "Dr Do little" didn't win anything, so doesn't belong there. If true that he was the first overseas manager at a major club, than this is note-worthy in itself, but should be elsewhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MegdalePlace (talkcontribs) 10:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Venglos was the first forgien coach in the premiership and for villa thus is notable and falls within the criteria. Everlast1910 11:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
The editor does have a point though. The text above the table reads "The following managers have all won at least one trophy when in charge of Aston Villa:". If Venglos didn't, then the wording needs changing to something that justifies his inclusion. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Good point, have amended accordingly. Thanks. Woody (talk) 12:12, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes i have just realised that! Opps :) Everlast1910 12:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Colours, crest and kit design

I was led to believe that Arsenal copied our kit design when Herbert Chapman was in charge (ie plain shirts with lighter sleeves). I am sure I read it either on here or the Arsenal page but now can't find it anywhere. Has anybody got a link to prove this to be the case? While we're at it has anybody got a link to confirm Barca copied their colours off us? Would be much appreciated, thanks. Villafancd (talk) 10:42, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
