Astra Film Fest is an international film festival of documentary film and visual anthropology, organized biannually by Astra Film in Sibiu, Romania. Astra Film Fest is one of the most interesting and valued film festivals in Europe. The Festival provides a forum for the documentary film outside the commercial mainstream, as a means of cultural and cross-cultural understanding. The Festival creates a particular environment, removing barriers between cultures, between filmmakers and the audience, and between film experts and the public.

Documentary films promote cultural and cross-cultural understanding, and provide viewers with an intimate and detailed portrait of the human condition.

Astra Film Fest has found ways to make people aware of the unlimited possibilities offered by the documentary film in presenting cultures, people and mentalities.
