Astius

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saint Astius (died 117 A.D.) is a second century Christian martyr venerated by the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. He was the bishop of Dynhachium in Macedonia. He was crucified by the Romans during the persection of Christians under the Roman emperor Trajan. A group of other saints, Peregrinus, Gennanus, Lucian, Pompeius, Hesychius, Papius, and Saturninus, were killed because they sympathized with Astius. His feast day is July 7.[1]
