Aspistor is a genus of catfishes (order Siluriformes) of the family Ariidae. Two species are classified in this genus, A. luniscutis and A. parkeri.[1]

These fish originate from marine and brackish waters of north and eastern South America.[1] A. luniscutis originates from French Guiana and Brazil.[1][2] A. parkeri is mainly found in turbid waters over muddy bottoms in coastal areas, estuaries and lower parts of rivers.[3] A. parkeri originates from Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, and Brazil.[1]

A. luniscutis grows to 15.0 centimetres (5.9 in) SL.[2] A. parkeri grows to 150 cm (59 in) SL.[3]

A. parkeri is sexually mature after around two years of age. Upon hatching, the alevins are relatively large, approximately 6.0–6.5 cm (2.4–2.6 in).[3]

A. parkeri is marketed fresh and salted. It is exported to Canada, USA, England, and Holland.[3]
