Asma Gull Hasan

Asma Gull Hasan is a Muslim feminist writer. She is the daughter of Pakistani immigrants and was born in Chicago, USA and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. [1]

She is the author of American Muslims: The New Generation (Continuum 2000), and Why I Am a Muslim (HarperCollins Thorsons/Element 2004), to counter Ibn Warraq's Why I Am Not a Muslim.

Asma Gull Hasan was a founder of Muslims for Bush. Hasan attended Wellesley College for undergraduate studies. [2]

Hasan has also faced criticism for her view that the hijab is not required. "Modesty comes from within," said Hasan, who chooses not to cover her hair. [3]
