Askrova

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Askrova is an Island of Flora in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The island was settled by a man called Willy Ask.

[edit] History

Askrova is the only place in the county that contains more sheep then horses. The island used to constitute a municipality of its own, but in 1981 a bridge was built from Askrova over to the smaller island, Tansøy.

Starting in 1982, after the bridge joined the two islands, Tansøy started an annual soccer tournament with Askrova called the Øya Cup.

[edit] Noted person

Stian Tansø from Askrova and Tansøy is the most capped (31) player in Øya Cup history and he is also the player with most goals, having scored 77. After several years playing for Tansøy, he transferred to Askrova in 1997 when the Øya Cup had its 15 year anniversary.
