Askizsky District

Askizsky District (Russian: Аскизский район) is a district (raion) of the Republic of Khakassia. Its administrative center is the village (selo) of Askiz. Population: 43,601 (2002 Census); 49,793 (1989 Census). Area: 7,536 square kilometers (2,909.7 sq mi).[1]

The Khakas account for the largest share of the total district population (40.61% in 1989). Natural growth rate of population was −5.81 per 1000 in 1994.
