Asking For It

Asking For It is the fourth track from Hole's major label debut,"Live Through This". The song is a notable track from the band as it was not released as a single, yet it made a brief, four week appearance on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart in early 1995, peaking at number 36.[1] An early version surfaced years later which featured lead singer Courtney Love's husband, Kurt Cobain, performing prominent back-up vocals on the track. His vocals are still heard on the official version, but aren't as strong.[2] The song is known for being a source for those who believe Cobain contributed to the album.[3] The title of the song is also referenced in the band's follow-up EP, "Ask for it".
