[edit] Commons Picture of the Year

I assert to have voted for picture 11 under the IP 216.15.52.83.

[edit] FPC Valley Fog

You recently opposed because the mountains in the background were suffering from blown highlights and atmospheric haze. There is now a new image (third edit) which has corrected that if you want to vote on it. --Digon3

Your Featured picture candidate has been promoted
Your nomination for featured picture status, Image:Prairie Dog Washington DC 1.jpg, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. Thank you for nominating it! KFP (talk | contribs) 22:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi Aaron,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:Prairie Dog Washington DC 1.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on July 30, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-07-30. howcheng {chat} 23:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for letting me know. I made a small adjustment on both the POTD and the image caption itself. It's not the greatest caption, but I can't think of anything better. --Asiir 16:56, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Glossy Ibis FPC

Hi Asiir - Per your thoughts, I went ahead and masked out the glossy ibis FP nom and blurred the background (and desaturated it a bit). Maybe it will meet your standard for unmitigated support? Take another peak at the nomination if you like. Debivort 22:52, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:CIMG1275.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:CIMG1275.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 19:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Clarified that I am the photographer and source of Image:CIMG1275.JPG and removed no source tag. --Asiir 19:58, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DC Meetup notice

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians in the District of Columbia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices (like this one), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page. --Gmaxwell 16:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Many thanks for the invite. I'm busy that weekend, but would love to stay on the list. --Asiir 14:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Yep. You're listed. I'll be sure to contact you for future events. --Gmaxwell 14:41, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:WardInscription1.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:WardInscription1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
