[edit] Cleanup request

The article needs to be overhauled. I've tried to tidy up and clarify the English, but I think that it needs someone with more knowledge of the topic to take it in hand. There are places where the ordinary reader gets very confused about the political and historical background to the events described. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:16, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The correct name of the general, who was my elder brother, is Asif Nawaz. President Ghulam Ishaq is credited as having identified him as Asif Nawaz Janjua in public statements and hence our tribal name Janjua was attached to his name in some newspaper accounts. There is no Khan in his name. The issue of his demise is indeed controversial and I hope to shed more light on it in due course, when I complete my book on the Pakistan Army. For a useful but brief biographical sketch readers are referred to Shahid Javed Burki's excellent Historical Dictionary of Pakistan (Scarecrow Press, 1999). Shuja Nawaz 15 July 2005

[edit] Image use

The photo of the General needs to have proper copyright tags. Thanks. --Ragib 05:36, 8 August 2005 (UTC) This photo was taken by a photographer hired by the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate of the Pakistan Army at Army House, Rawalpindi on August 17, 1991. So it could be credited to ISPR Directorate, Pakistan Army. Shuja Nawaz

[edit] Biographical info

The article contains no biographical details whatsoever. Unless it is renamed to something like "General Nawaz's death", such info should be added.

And it does not say much about why his death was controversial. My recollection (mostly family gossip) at the time was that he collapsed and died after visiting the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his wife believed he had been poisoned in a cup of tea after getting too close to exposing corruption. Consequently she took hair from his corpse and sent them to the USA & the UK for analysis which suggested that this was so, but subsequently his body was exhumed and tested (obviously in Pakistan). I cannot substantiate any of this so I have not posted it on the substantive article. Can anyone help? - Streona —Preceding unsigned comment added by Streona (talkcontribs) 22:36, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MILHIST B-class checklist

First, this article needs an infobox, which can be found here: {{Infobox Military Person}}. It also needs some more sourcing, and could always use a photograph. Parsecboy (talk) 21:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
