Talk:Asian Tribune

[edit] World Institute For Asian Studies

The Asian Tribune claims to be published by this organisation, but a google search reveals just for this phrase minus "Asian Tribune" reveals just one page of results, all but one of which refer to the paper. What is it called when a partisan organisation adopts a name which suggests impartiality?--Victim Of Fate 10:11, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Practically everything in this article is OR and probably incorrect. Therefore unless neccessary reliable citations are provided, I will remove all the OR and unverified text a few days. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 16:02, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

The content has been referenced with relevant citations. Can't claim its OR with unverified info now. Elalan 20:42, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] POV Check

This article has been constantly rewritten using references that are linked to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a terrorist organization. The Asian Tribune contains many articles critical of the LTTE, and as a direct result LTTE sympathizers continue to vandalize this article. The current revision of the article cites pro-LTTE pseudo-media outlets, blogs, and other highly suspect sources. --14:35, 18 December 2006 (UTC)King ravana

Perhaps; but Asian Tribune is itself quite obviously a pseudo-media outlet for certain extremist factions in Sri Lankan politics -- those who strenously oppose any sort of negotiation with the LTTE. Pursuant to this agenda it routinely spurns basic rules of journalistic integrity, e.g. with respect to sourcing and seeking comments from individuals or organizations against whom it makes accusations. In effect it is more a blog than a news outlet, and the article should somehow reflect this fact, in an appropriately NPOV manner. (Sirocco 16:54, 29 December 2006 (UTC))
