Asian Festival of First Films
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Asian Festival of First Films (simplified Chinese: 亚裔首作电影节) is an annual film and documentary festival that celebrates the achievements and excellence of first-time filmmakers, including producers, directors, writers, cinematographers, actors and documentary-makers.
It was first launched in November 2005 by Teamwork Productions (organiser) together with Singapore's Media Development Authority, as part of the Asia Media Festival.
Though this film festival celebrates first-time filmmakers, it has attracted support from veteran filmmakers from the Asian region. These include Fann Wong, the lead actress of Dragon Eye Congee (AFFF 2005 Best Actress, Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematographer and Best Producer nominees), Tiara Jacquelina, the producer of Puteri Gunung Ledang (AFFF 2005 Best Producer), and Mira Nair, the director of Monsoon Wedding.
