[edit] Tiny bio

I live and sometimes work in London and I grew up in Cornwall on Carn Brea in the only house built within the Neolithic settlement where there are remains of huts more than 5,000 years old. I earn money by helping managers think about being Agile.

I created my wikipedia account in 2006 (&0000000000000001.0000001 year, &0000000000000231.000000231 days ago!) as it can sometimes be helpful for someone you disagree with to see that you are a real person.

[edit] Images contributed

I've added a number of images to wikimedia.org, normally by adding them to flickr first as it is a convenient way of adding the right copyright release. The rule of thumb is that most things over 70 years can be added and more recent things only if the copyright is formally released (say, if you as the photographer release the photo to the public domain). Notable exceptions are anonymous photos from Australia (public domain if before 1955) and photos from Germany (public domain if more that 50 years old and not republished (link) (though not all Wikimedia users seem to agree with this interpretation of German law)).

[edit] Images requested

Particular images I've requested to be released to the public domain. The experience of trying to get these images was so disheartening I've ½ given up for the time being.

Awaiting response
  1. 2007-09-13 W. Edwards Deming better photo requested from www.deming.org. The contact email staff@deming.org bounced so forwarded the request to registered domain holder.
  2. 2007-10-06 Ryan Sampson image requested from his agents, Hatton McEwan.
  3. 2008-03-24 Simon Callow image requested from his agents, Casarotto Ramsay and Associates Ltd.
    • 2008-03-27 Response and photo from SC's PA which I passed to permissions-en@wikimedia.org to be registered if they think it's okay.
    • 2008-03-30 No response so far, so re-read the WikiCommons guide commons:OTRS and consequently uploaded the image under the GNU Free Document License with the template:Otrs pending and requested permission from permissions-commons@wikimedia.org.
    • 2008-03-31 Wiki admin bounced my request on the basis that the reply was not clear enough (note that I used a recommended format, no wonder that wikipedia is slowly being cleared of images; sigh).
    • 2008-04-02 Sent a second super clear request back to SC's PA.
    • 2008-04-03 The professional photographer was unhappy releasing under CCA free license and suggested a restrictive license. I emailed back referring to the Foundations letter on the matter, Commons:Licensing and suggested a less formal photograph may be suitable.
