Talk:Ashtray

[edit] Research

I am working research for a play that takes place in the 1840's-or thereabouts. I was wondering-does anyone know what they used for ashtrays? Did they use ashtrays? When did the ashtray come about? Thanks for the help, John

[edit] Photo request

In the early 1920s, strange-looking ashtrays depicting monkeys protecting their private parts, with the phrase (translated from the French), "No, Voronoff, you won't get me!" painted on them began showing up in Parisian homes. See reputation. It would be nice to have a photo of that ashtray for the Serge Voronoff article. -- Jreferee 21:40, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
