[edit] Injury ref changed

The fourth item in the References section previously linked to a BBC story and was listed as "Giles gloomy over England future". I have not changed the linked URL itself, but the actual story now has a very different, and more optimistic, tone, so I have changed the wording on this page to reflect that. I don't know whether the gloomier article still exists, but it's not here any more. Loganberry (Talk) 23:42, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE smug bastard comment

Aw come on, thats not vandalism. It's the truth damnit!

  • No it isn't. He's not smug (nobody could be smug after all the abuse he's had over the years) and his parents were definitely married prior to his birth. Average Earthman 21:34, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Nobody has a right to say anything like that to anyone. If you don't like the man, refrain from saying bad if you can't say anything good about him. If you use that kind of foul language, it only shows what kind of an upbringing you've had. Think about what he's been through with the family going through such a torrid time and the abuse he's had to cope up with over the years.

[edit] Retirement

He has announced his retirement here and I have added this to the article. SGGH speak! 11:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FA drive

MdCollins and I are going to try to get this article to FA. We'll outline the major to-dos here before a peer review. SGGH speak! 16:13, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Right - to business. Some thoughts.

  • Pre-Test cricket needs writing, and the international information organised, with perhaps sub-headings for the Caribbean tour, the 2005 ashes and the later injuries etc.
  • A section about his trouble proving his place in the team may be a good idea, including the potential retirement in 2004.
  • A cursory mention of his new role as EPP spin coach also.

By the way, Warwickshire call his job 'Director of Coaching', but he and most of the media say 'Director of Cricket'. How confusing. Any other thoughts before we get to work? –MDCollins (talk) 23:48, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Nope, but I've put your comments in the above format to make it easier to strike off what we have done. Lets get going :) SGGH speak! 09:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
I have set it to "debut-2004" and "domestic to call up" SGGH speak! 10:17, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Conspicuous

In the '2006, injury and retirement' section, it is written: "...Panesar played against both Sri Lanka and Pakistan, with conspicuous success." Would use of the word 'conspicuous' be POV or require a citation? Red Gown (talk) 21:23, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

If it is cited to an article that states that, or something to that effect, it would be fine, but as of yet (even though we know that Monty did bowl well) we haven't got a cite. Can easily pull up some match report from CricInfo at some point. SGGH speak! 21:33, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
