[edit] Cleanup

I'm not exactly sure of the reasoning for the cleaup tag, but in either case, I will be reviewing and enriching the AC content over the coming weeks. I loved this silly game back in the pre-college days when I still had time to play. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Benplowman (talkcontribs) .

I think a good place to start would be removing the original creature section, it is just a mess. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.69.190.75 (talkcontribs) .
*grin* after it was decided to put it here, now we should remove it again? that sounds not really logical, it perhpas could use some work or it's seperate page, but beyond that we should not remove it.
It looks like the creature articles have all been completely deleted. Any information on this? I don't consider these articles "indiscriminate collections of information on MMOs". Many of the Asheron's Call races are quite unique and original fictional creations, with pages and pages of data built up around them over the years. They deserve a place here as much as other completely synthetic races which happen to be more widely known, such as Middle Earth's Valar. --Aaryna 17:22, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] expansion

this is the 3rd time someone added some info saying there will be an expansion, if you read a little better you will notice the info is already there. so unless you want to make a section of it then it isn't needed to keep adding that info. Boneyard 18:11, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] expansion

A Second Expansion, Throne of Destiny, has been released July 18th. Could someone care to put up pertinent information about it? --Shultz 05:46, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

there is a line with info on the expansion, looking at the article on a whole it doesn't make much sense to write much more about on this page. Boneyard 07:54, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] pyreal

is there anywhere to check out the vfd debate for the pyreal article? Boneyard 07:54, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Pyreal -- Mikeblas 19:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] chorizite

My Chorizite article is still separated on its own, and apparently forgotten about. Any objections to merging it into the AC Terms section, since Pyreal is there too? --Aaryna 17:27, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] olthoi merge, well any ac creature merge

a merge of olthoi into the article is fine with me, perhaps create a section with well known ac creatures as ac is filled with sort of unique creatures: olthoi, drudge, ... Boneyard 11:47, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

i noticed there are articles on hollow minion, virindi, olthoi and a small mentioning of drudge. so if we would merge olthoi into this article the same should be done for the other creature i think. that makes me feel we better leave them alone or make asheron's call creatures article. Boneyard 15:47, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
so far i haven't seen anyone agreeing on the merge, so i feel that it is justified to remove the merge tags soon and keep it like it is now. Boneyard 13:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
I think it makes the most sense to add a creatures section to the AC page and merge the info from the existing pages into it. Alex 07:56, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree that an AC creatures section should be added to this page, replacing the individual pages out there.Ephemeral life 15:41, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

I don't see anyone recently disagreeing with the idea of merging, so I'm going to go ahead and do that. Benplowman17:30, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
I went ahead and added most of the new creatures with as many descriptions as I could. Couldn't find descriptions for them all, but i'm sure if someone wants to sift through a few of the texts on random websites, you could come up with a nice description. I don't currently play AC, but it has been my favorite game, hands-down since 2000! I still say that having played WoW and a handful of other MMORPGs. [edit] history

It might be pertinent to add the story of the game as it has evolved since the birth of the game itself. It would make sense to add this to the Story heading. I'd suggest using maggiethejackcat as a reference, I'm sure she wouldn't mind allowing the usage of images from her site, as long as they fufill any other copyright issues. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 169.229.73.149 (talk • contribs) .

I highly recommend not using Maggie the Jackcat's site as a reference. Her site is notoriously unreliable as a source of facts, since her information usually comes from the first reports players send to her when new content opens and she never returns to those pages to edit them when things are found to be wrong. For older lore, Crossroads of Dereth is a good site, but newer lore is very difficult to find. -- Dyinath 18:27, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Original Creatures

well they got merged to here now and have been expanded a lot, both in information and in number, also with not that original creatures in my opinion. they have become a large portion on the ac article and that seems kinda odd. wouldn't a seperate article be better, certainly for the less interesting ones? perhaps listing a few of the typical ones and further pointing to a seperate article? Boneyard 08:45, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

i agree the orginal creature section "clutters" the article. there is more on this then the actual game. Evil Vin 10:14, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A few additions, corrections, (hopeful) improvements

Did what I could to fill in some blanks, might come back later to fill in some more neglected parts (for example, Shadow section might be quite a feat to get all of the relevant information into; Tumeroks needs info on Hea/Aun split, etc.)

Wish I could fill in more but I'm pretty sure the game lore is really messed up at the moment with regard to Tursh/Sezzherei/Grael and whatever they're trying to get across there. I can't make heads or tails of what's going on there, especially when it comes to Margul existing in the "days of Grael" and figuring out what relation the Mukkir have to ANYTHING (Mukkir:Ruschk::Gurog:Mattekar? who knows...)

[edit] mmorpgchart as source

i find this a tricky choice, even mmorpgchart themselves rate their ac numbers as very uncertain. is it enough of a trust source like this? i think everyone can agree the population has gone down since it's peak, but to use numbers that simply aren't official i feel isn't the thing to do. Boneyard 07:14, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] move to gaming wiki

i removed the tag because i don't feel the game includes that much info on playing the game. it is more about the story behind it and how the game developed in the years it has been running. perhaps the game terms are a little too much, but that also is allowable enough for this encyclopedia in my opinion. Boneyard 07:07, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Glaring Errors

The story portion of this needs major revisions...mainly because it's incorrect. I'll see what I can think up to fix it, but as it is now it's only partially correct. As far as the islands...is it necessary to have that much information solely about Vissidal? The rest of the islands need to be added as well. For some reason it's not coming to me how exactly to add them though. All the creatures in the list link to this entry, but the creatures section was removed so now it's just dead there.

yeah the island section is too large in comparison with the rest, i guess it should be taken out, specially the create list. i remain with the idea we should make seperate articles for things like asheron's call creatures, asheron's call landmasses (or such). that way the main article remains pretty readable. still in those sections we don't need deep game info like that list of creates. thats more for a gaming site. Boneyard 08:00, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

It seems odd to me that there is very little here on the gameplay mechanics (for example, the lack of skill trees, the magic system, the monarchy system), which are a large part of what separates AC from all the other MMOs out there.

The islands section is a huge mess. There is way too much information on Vissidal (already mentioned above), there is a section on the Deep, which isn't an island, and the section on the Dark Isle's monster spawns is incorrect (not to mention, it doesn't keep within the descriptive style of the other island entries). In my opinion, there should also be a descriptive entry on Dereth itself, since it (Osteth and the Direlands) have their own flavor, too. Dyinath 18:26, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Release Date

I've edited the release date to reflect November 2nd, 1999 which is closer to the commercial release date than the previous date. Sentinels and Advocates, player based guides before the program was disbanded, had characters before this date but paying customers weren't on the servers til the 2nd so that should be the release date. http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=15791 http://www.activewin.com/news/1999/oct_3.shtml http://www.rsxdesign.net/project/9904.html Leftus 17:54, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Servers

Perhaps the servers should be listed with the newer ones dates of launch included and darktide pvp. For example: Harvestgain Leafcull Verdantine (launched in 200x) Darktide (player vs player only) etc etc Eddiecougar182 (talk) 05:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
