[edit] Fair use concern

My concern (beyond the basic fact that there is no rationale) is that the book is not being commented on at Ashoka the Great or at Ashokavadana, which is the only reason for there to be a fair use to the book cover. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:21, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ricky81682. The book itself is being discussed in Ashokavadan (".. a translation of the Ashokavadana by Strong etc...), so I think fair use would apply (it is even quite beneficial for the author to be mentionned this way actually). On the contrary, I agree we could remove the image from the Ashoka the Great article. Regards. PHG (talk) 05:59, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I still disagree. This is analogous to unacceptable use # 7 ("Barry Bonds baseball card, to illustrate the article on Barry Bonds"). We are using the image of the book cover to discuss its contents. If there was a separate article on the book itself (like how Image:Boyinthestripedpyjamas.jpg is used in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), then it is appropriate. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 06:59, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok... should I make an article about "The Legend of Ashoka" by John Strong? PHG (talk) 07:24, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, if there is something of importance of about that book. I assume there is. I'm sorry if I'm a little nutty but the policy has strengthened heavily over time (I still remember the massacre against all the baseball cards myself). -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:35, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
