Smt. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande (born in 1960) is a Hindustani classical music vocalist.

[edit] Early life

Ashwini was born into a family with strong musical traditions. She started her early classical training under the guidance of Pandit Narayanrao Datar. She then completed her Sangeet Visharad from the Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya. Since then she has been under the tutelage of her mother Smt. Manik Bhide, who has been instilling in her the intricacies and traditions of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. Currently Ashwini is also receiving guidance from one of the stalwarts of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Pandit Ratan Pai.

Ashwini has created her own style to compliment the different styles that have influenced her. She has a strong command over three octaves and has created many of her own Bandishes, which she has published in her book "Ragarachananjali".

Apart from her knowledge of Music, Ashwini holds a Masters degree in Microbiology and a doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Bombay.
