[edit] 2003–2007
Sims played for St George-Illawarra from 2003-2007. However when the Dragons told him they would not be renewing his contract in mid-2007, he started looking elsewhere. After speculation he would sign with the Bulldogs, Sims signed a contract with the Brisbane Broncos for 3 seasons.
[edit] Clint Newton incident
In a 2004 match against the Newcastle Knights, Sims was returning a goal-line drop-out when he was smashed in the face by Clint Newton. He suffered a cut below his mouth and mild concussion, but returned in the second half. In turn, Newton was sent off and did not return for the season.
