[edit] School history
The school opened on September 8 1955 as Ashton Park Secondary Modern School, built in the grounds of Ashton Court. The intake of pupils was aimed at the district of Hotwells.
[edit] Performance
The current head teacher is Mr C Gardner. The GCSE and AS/A2 Level results have been increasing year on year for at least the past 3 years. The highest overall GCSE result was in 2007 with 34% - though not particularly high compared to the national average, it performs well considering the large number of independent schools in the surrounding area and the social background of the majority of its pupils. A level results have been increasing, though still just below average.
