Ashley Slanina-Davies (sometimes shortened to Ashley Davies) (born 18 December 1989) is an English actress born in Standish, Wigan who is most notable for playing the role of Amy Barnes on Channel 4's teen soap, Hollyoaks.[1] The role of Amy is Slanina-Davies' first major television role to date, with her having done background work previously.[citation needed]

The character of Amy Barnes developed in a number of story-lines in Autumn 2006, which saw the character discover she had become pregnant and her family break up. Dealing with these issues sees the character act erratically, becoming involved in a car crash.

Ashley Slanina-Davies herself is interested in charity work, and has contributed to fundraising activities for the Action for Blind People charity, abseiling down the Printworks building in Manchester in June 2006.[2] Slanina-Davies stated that she was motivated by the fact that her "mum's partially sighted". Slanina-Davies also spoke out on the issue of teenage sex for the NSPCC. The character of Amy had slept with her then boyfriend due to peer pressure, and Slanina-Davies is quoted by the NSPCC in its campaigns on the issue as stating "Don't do it to impress your mates."

Ashley is currently represented by Inter-City Casting, based in Manchester.[citation needed].

In May 2008, Ashley got her hair cut off for a dramatic storyline in Hollyoaks, while also raising money for charity.[3] It is all due to a domestic violence storyline involving Ashley's character, Amy, and her troublesome boyfriend Ste Hay. [4]
