[edit] O-Town
In 1999 Parker Angel tried out for the first season of the ABC reality show Making the Band. Angel was successful, and producer Lou Pearlman chose him for the five-member band O-Town. The band proved popular during their run on television, including two more seasons, and released an eponymous record in 2001 that reached triple platinum sales. The band struggled soon after, though, and after changing management and releasing a second album in 2002, the group disbanded.
[edit] Solo work
Parker Angel signed a solo deal with Blackground/Universal Records in 2004. His debut album, Soundtrack to Your Life, was released on May 16, 2006. The first single from the album, "Let U Go", made the Billboard Top 20.
In 2006, he starred in an MTV reality series There and Back, which documented his life in the aftermath of the break-up of O-Town and his transition to a career as a solo artist. The show chronicled his financial struggles, the production of his new album, his relationship troubles and the birth of his first son. The theme song to the show was "Soundtrack to Your Life", a song from his first solo album.
He also opened for Ashlee Simpson during her June–July 2006 tour.
[edit] Other works
Parker Angel appeared in the 1999 direct-to-video movie Longshot along with the other members of O-Town as well as many other teen celebrities of the time.
He provided the voice of Alex in the Lunar series of video games on the Sega CD platform and also made an appearance in the Sega Saturn game Magic Knight Rayearth as the voice of Ferio.
Parker Angel had appearances in episodes of the MTV series Clone High and My Own. He also competed on the television program Celebrity Cooking Showdown, making the finals but not winning, partly because he lacerated his hand with a knife during the challenge.
On January 19, 2007, Parker Angel made his Broadway debut playing the role of Link Larkin in Hairspray on Broadway. He is scheduled to continue the role until the fall of 2008. For the month of April, he was out of Hairspray due to injury. He herniated two disks in his back, during the finale of the show.[citation needed]
