Ashkum Township is located in Iroquois County, Illinois. The population was 1,535 at the 2000 census. Ashkum Township formed from portions of Chebanse Township and Onarga Township in March, 1857.

Ashkum Township covers an area of 62.71 square miles and contains one incorporated settlement, Ashkum, as well as the town of L'Erable. According to the USGS, it contains one cemetery, L'Erable Catholic.
