Ashe County High School is a public school of secondary education for grades 9-12 located in West Jefferson, North Carolina, USA, situated in the far northwestern county of North Carolina. It is operated by the Ashe County Schools District.

The average class size is 14-20 students.

Student performance exceeds the North Carolina state average in all tested areas. The 84% graduation rate exceeds the state's 70% average.[1]

Math Teacher Carmen Wilson was named North Carolina Teacher of The Year in 2001-2002.[2]

In 2008, US News and World Report ranked Ashe County High School among the top 1500 public high schools in the country, placing it in the Bronze category, among the 18,000 schools reviewed.[3]

The school offers students the opportunity to participate in several activities.

The Husky Vanguard Marching Band was one of 25 bands representing 17 states nationwide at the 2006 Toyota Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. The band also performed at the 2002 Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana and the 2004 FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.[5]
