Ashanti is the self-titled debut album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music). The album goes in a chronological order about Ashanti and her love life. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 selling over 503,000 copies in its first week—the largest first-weeks sales by a new female artist. It sold over 3.5 million copies in the U.S. [1] and over five million copies worldwide.[2] The album earned Ashanti a Grammy Award for "Best Contemporary R&B Album" in 2003.
