[edit] Soviet warhead

You added the following text Tsar Bomba:

(although on, December 24, 1962, a 50MT ICBM warhead developed by Chelyabinsk-70 was detonated at 24.2 megatons to reduce fallout)

Can you provide a citation or that? In particular I am interested in knowing for sure whether 1. it is an ICBM warhead and not a gravity bomb (I find it hard to believe they could develop a 50 MT ICBM warhead), 2. that it indeed had a 50 MT est. yield and that it was down-graded before detonation? --Fastfission 14:59, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. Anyway, I added the citation. According to the Atomic Forum website, it was indeed a test of such a warhead, the exact text was: This was a 'clean' test of a massive 50 megaton ICBM warhead being developed by Chelyabinsk-70. The yield of the warhead was scaled down by half for the test to reduce fallout that would have been caused by a full-scale test. Andrei Sakharov unsuccessfully tried to stop this test on the grounds that it would unnecessarily increase global nuclear fallout. Ascraeus 02:48, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
