Asa Mercer Middle School, commonly known as Mercer Middle School, is a middle school in Seattle, Washington, United States. Located in Seattle, Washington, it is named after Asa Shinn Mercer, one of the first teachers in Seattle. The school, run by Seattle Public Schools, is one of Seattle's most ethnically diverse middle schools. It has core classes (Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, and Science) a variety of electives are offered as either full- or partial year electives, including Computer, Art, Spanish, U.S History, Drumline, Orchestra, and Band. The school has a two year high school level Spanish class and ESL programs. In 2007, Mercer won the award for Most Improved in Math Olympiad. The Ultimate Frisbee (A)team recently won a Seattle Public Schools Ultimate Championship under coach of the year Samuel Terry. The Ultimate Frisbee team also won the spirit award in Spring Reign. Other sports and activities include Co-ed track, boys' soccer, girls' soccer , co-ed lacrosse, flag football, and math olympiad.
