The "As of" pages are useful for marking time-sensitive statements that will need to be updated in the future. In general, it's best to avoid statements that will date quickly, but there are times when it suits the article. This mechanism helps us to include current and timely information without the risk that someone browsing the 'Pedia in 2007 will read an article about that new album that is due in spring of 2004...
A link to As of 2004 will redirect to the 2004 page, appearing no different from a 2004 link. However, you can click the subtitle "Redirected from As of 2004" to return to the actual "As of 2004" article, and from there you can use the "What Links Here" utility to find pages that may need updating.
