As the Bell Rings is a Disney Channel short show. Its name is based on the show As the World Turns. The format is a selection of short live-action comedy sequences.

The show is about what happens in between classes at a high school. The show takes place in front of a window and each show ends with the class bell ringing.
It is filmed in the main hallway at Del Valle High School in Del Valle, Texas.

The United States version features roles by actors Tony Oller, Seth Ginsberg, Carlson Young, Gabriella Rodriguez, Collin Cole, Demi Lovato (Season 1), and Lindsey Black (Season 2). The first season with 15 episodes has been filmed, and aired on August 26, 2007 at 8:25 and 8:55 p.m. (ET/PT), 7:25 and 7:55 p.m. (CT).
This is not the first five-minute scripted show on American television. Ruthie on the Telephone, a five-minute comedy show, aired on CBS in 1949.
This show uses a laugh track, and isn't filmed with a live studio audience.
This has been a very successful show for Disney and Season 2 of the American version of As The Bell Rings might be taping soon. The rumor is it might be a 30 minute show instead of a five minute show.[citation needed]

[edit] Danny Neilson
Portrayed by Tony Oller (All Seasons), he is the main male character. He and Charlotte have the most dramatic romantic relationship, as he is often crushing on Charlotte and getting Skipper's help. He is the most normal out of the three boys and is best friends with Skipper and Toejam. His talents include singing and songwriting. In Season 2, though dismayed that Charlotte moved, he meets Lexi and he developed a crush on her.

Portrayed by Seth Ginsburg (All Seasons), Toejam is the other of Danny's weird friends. It is unclear how Toejam got the nickname, and it is never said in the show, but it is how everyone refers to him. There is a bit of romance between Toejam and Brooke, but usually only after Tiffany intervenes, because they're both quite shy. In one episode, though, Toejam steps in on his own when Brooke is being made fun of by the school bully. Toejam is pretty much a stereotype skateboard guy. He has little say in Danny and Skipper's crazy schemes.

Portrayed by Carlson Young (All Seasons), she is the most popular and beautiful girl in the school. She is slightly ditsy at times, for instance it took her an entire day to learn the alphabet backwards. Still, she has moments of pure genius, and she knows more about dating and body language than any other character. She has a forgetful memory and is most likely at Charlotte's level at most subjects in school, but all the males in her school except for Danny and Toejam have expressed emotions of love. Her talents include hand modeling and reciting the alphabet backwards. She is best friends with Charlotte and Brooke.

Portrayed by Gabriela Rodriguez (All Seasons), she is the smartest main character out of the six. She often disagrees with Tiffany as Tiffany is about the most ditzy girl in school and Brooke is the smartest. Her talent is dancing and being funny. She is best friends with Charlotte and Tiffany. Portrayed by Collin Cole (All Seasons), he is probably the weirdest character. He is the big geek of all of the six main characters. He has a major crush on Tiffany, she appears to have interest in Skipper, seeing as she always smiles when Skipper speaks. He is best friends with Danny and Toejam. He is interested in magic, but is a terrible magician. He has an alterego name Uncle Kipper, but apparently, he's real.

Portrayed by Demi Lovato (Season 1), she has a crush on Danny and is the main girl character in Season 1. She often gets flirting advice from Tiffany. She is the average girl out of the three, as she is not super smart or too popular. Her talents include playing the guitar, singing, and writing songs. She is best friends with Tiffany and Brooke. She moves away in Season 2.

Portrayed by Lindsey Black (Season 2), Lexi is a main girl character in Season 2. She replaces Charlotte in Season 2 too. She makes friends with the gang very quickly and has a crush on Danny.
