[edit] Transliteration
Agree...just some idiot sitting in his basement waiting to rub his mothers feet. Al-Sahab and Al-Qaeda are completely irrelevent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.198.133.72 (talk) 14:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- shouldn't the title be "Al-Sahab" as it is in Arabic? Like "Al-Qaeda," and not "AQ-Qaeda" stan goldsmith 19:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- No - this has to do with the rules of Arabic and which letters cause the L in Al- to be elided. S does this, Q does not. Occasionally we see, in English transliteration, Al- written with an L, as it appears written in Arabic text - but not as it is pronounced. This depends on the choice of who does the transliteration and is related to one's philosophy of transliteration. In general, I favour the "Al Sahab" way of doing it, but not for the reason you do - however since this page is already established, I'm fine with it. Although, I do think "Al Sahab" should redirect to this article. As for the other issue, that it should be writted "Sahaab," I think this can also be solved with redirection. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.249.92.63 (talk) 23:40, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Can we do better?
To most of the world, it's a media production team/company. To you and I, it's a videoblog. Yes, that's right. A guy with a computer. Show me otherwise! [1] 82.71.48.158 20:05, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- They produced a new video with computer animation[2]. Should probably be put into the article. -Nard 17:03, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Source and citation
Someone added an entry with a reference to the Wired article. This is followed by a note about needing a more authenticative source. Considering that I am the person interviewed in the Wired article and who gave the presentation at Black Hat, perhaps I can provide a more authoritative source: http://www.hackerfactor.com/papers/bh-usa-07-krawetz-wp.pdf This paper describes the methods I used and provides examples.
However, considering that I am the source of this material, I do not believe that it is appropriate for me to edit this wikipedia entry. Doing so could be considered a bias. I will leave it up to others to determine what should be added and how.

[edit] URL For As-Sahab?
The as-Sahab website is the primary method of video delivery for al-Qaida. Surely it would be appropriate to link to them directly? Does anyone have the URL? Chrisbrunner.com 03:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Done, official website linked the "external articles" section. Publicus 17:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

- Are you (or is anyone else) sure that this is the right website? I don't speak Arabic, but even with Google Translate's help, I can't find any video, or links to video, on said website. Mlc 22:47, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

- This doesn't look like the "official" as-sahab web site. This seems to be some kind of fatwa site with muftis giving advice. I doubt there is something official.

- I think you're right. I'll take the site off. Publicus 15:11, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

- The news media and many sites, and indeed this article often say "on an Islamic militant Website where Al-Sahab posts messages".
-
-
-
-
-
- Yet, we never hear the name of the site(s)?

-
- Is there some reason why the site(s) is/are never named or cannot be named? Wouldn't it make more sense to say "on ***.com"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.107.248.220 (talk) 15:25, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

- Surely that's not the site they're talking about. Fox News said it was a forum. Chrisbrunner.com 19:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

If it is a forum then maybe the original external link was correct: Official As-Sahab website (الصفحة العربية الإسلامية سحاب) What news channels said it was a website and which said it was a forum? Links? Robert C Prenic 19:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Joe Lieberman and as sahab on youtube
it looks like sen joe lieberman is trying to pull videos produced by this group (and other pro al qaeda videos) from youtube. This is likely significant to this article.
