Aryeh Deri (Hebrew: אריה דרעי; born February 17, 1959 in Meknes, Morocco) is the former leader of Israel's Shas Party. He was replaced by Eli Yishai after Deri was jailed for corruption,[1] having been found guilty of taking $155,000 in bribes while serving as Interior Minister, and sentenced to three years at the Maasiyahu Prison.[2] He was released after serving twenty-two months due to good behavior.[3]
