Arwal district

Arwal district is one of the thirty-seven districts of Bihar state, India, and Arwal town is the administrative headquarters of this district. It was earlier part of Jehanabad District. Arwal has a population of 588,000. The five block divisions are Arwal, Kaler, Karpi, Kurtha and Suryapur Vanshi. Paddy, wheat and maize are the main crops. Nearest airport is at Patna and railway station is at Jehanabad. By road, Arwal is linked with Jehanabad, Patna and Aurangabad

Arwal district is a part of Magadh division. It came into existence in September 2001 and was earlier part of Jehanabad district.

It's headquarter is situated at Arwal which is approximately 80 km south from the state capital Patna. Arwal town is situated on the right side bank of the river Son, which is a tributary to the river Ganges.
There are some old renowned high schools near the district head quarters. One of them is Umairabad High School, situated 1 km south from the district Head quarters in the village Umairabad. This school has distinction of having many engineer, Doctors, Civil Servants, Politicians as its allumni. Sitting MLA from Arwal Mr. Dularchand Yadav is ex student of this school. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, a native of neighbouring village Pyarechak, passed civil services examination in the Year 1993 is also an ex-student of Umairabad High School. He is currently Posted as Joint Controller of Communication Accounts,(Jt.CCA) Department of Telecom at Lucknow,(India). He has also served as Finance Officer of a premier organisation National Council of Applied Economic Research,(NCAER), New Delhi. His wife Ms. Nivedita Srivastava is also a Civil servant and presently working as Director, Postal Accounts, Lucknow.
Minister of State for agriculture, Union Cabinet, Government of India Mr. Akhilesh is also native of Arwal District. In the past he has represented Arwal Legislative constituency.
