[edit] Proposed move

This article has been renamed from Annamalai Hill to Arunachala as the result of a move request.

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was Move

Annamalai Hill returns 603 google hits Arunachala returns 90,000

Various Hindu sacred texts use the name Arunachala, I think the move is a clear one. Sethie (talk) 17:41, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Greetings, Sethie. I strongly support you on this. I understand the argument for the Annamalai Hill article name (Tamil/Skt origin of words, the Hill being in Tamil Nadu) ... but I think the vast majority of people who are aware of this Hill know the Hill as Arunachala. (And this is supported by your google hits info.) The fact that the Hill is usually known as Arunachala in the sacred texts is also very relevant to this. Iddli (talk) 18:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nice additions

Thanks Iddli I like what you're adding. Sethie (talk) 23:01, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words Sethie. :-) Iddli (talk) 06:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, can I suggest that you add a link to the popular and free http://www.arunachala-live.com/ webcam, as a service to devotees who do not live there? 59.92.87.80 (talk) 09:50, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I really like the idea of having a link to the webcam ... My concern is that the webcam page is linked to information related to accommodations in Tiru. It seems to be a service pointing people toward clean rooms, etc but I am not sure if it violates any policy to add the webcam link to the Arunachala article as it stands now. I will try writing to the site owner and seeing if he/she would be willing to create a stand-alone page for the webcam which is not not linked to anything else. Thanks for the excellent suggestion! Sethie is open to webcam, in fact, he votes to include it. It might be "better" if there were no commercial links, and on that webpage there is only one link and it is more of a resource for travellers. Sethie (talk) 21:26, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support Sethie ... just give me a day or so and then I will add it. (Iddli (talk) 23:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC))
Great improvements since I was last here, both in article move/name change to Arunachala and in plan to add webcam. --Dseer (talk) 06:10, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
