Aruns (Tarquinius)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For the younger son of Demaratus the Corinthian, see Aruns 2.
Aruns was the brother of Tarquinius Superbus, the last king of Rome, according to Tacitus.
During battle, he saw Lucius Junius Brutus, who had led the overthrow of Tarquinius and founded the Roman Republic, at the head of the Roman army, wearing the royal robes which he considered belonged to his house alone. He and Brutus fought and killed each other.
Aruns was also in Dante's inferno. He was in the eighth circle, and the fourth pouch of hell.
